BEYOND the traditional hazing, violence seems to be the norm at the dormitory of the Police Academy in Semarang. After working hours senior cadets seem to lash out violently against their juniors, many of whom end up physically and psychologically injured, and kicked out of the academy if they dare to complain. Yet little action is meted out against the perpetrators. Is the Police Academy management looking the other way because it’s an accepted tradition?
