NATURAL disasters struck the country during the second half of 2010: flash floods in Wasior, Papua in October; three weeks later a tsunami struck Mentawai Islands; then Yogyakarta fell victim to Mt Merapi’s eruption. During these tragedies, people risked their own lives to save others. Tempo found nine of these national disaster heroes and report on their inspiring stories.
