The voice of Fuad Rahmany, the Finance Ministry's director-general of taxation, rose each time he was asked about the amount of revenue the state had collected. On many recent occasions, including at an opinion-hearing meeting at the Financial and Banking Commission of the House of Representatives (DPR), Fuad has consistently said there was no way he could meet this year's target for tax receipts. This is despite the fact that the Rp995.2 trillion target in the Revised National Budget had already been brought down from Rp1,031.8 trillion
