Stopping The Smoke
FOREST fires in Sumatra and Kalimantan are once again emitting hazardous haze, spreading across six provinces and neighboring countries Singapore and Malaysia. As in previous years, the government seems unable to do anything, burdened by a serious lack of coordinated action between the central with provincial and local governments. As a result, the haze has spread faster and wider, causing disrupting economic and social activities, like flight cancellations and health problems. Why is the government slow to act? Who should be responsible?
