THE coup d’etat issue again hits Lt. Gen. (ret) Prabowo Subiantao. This time the accusation comes from former President B.J. Habibie’s security advisor, Lt. Gen. (ret) Sintong Panjaitan. In his biography Sintong claims that Strategic Reserves Command commander Prabowo would stage a coup in May 1998. While still a captain in 1983, Prabowo was also accused of intending to carry out a counter-coup against Indonesian Armed Forces chief Lt. Gen. L.B. Moerdani.
