REFORMASI in Indonesia that made its mark after the fall of President Suharto on May 21,1998 has been ongoing for five years. It was triggered by the economic crisis, which hit Asia a year earlier. And followed by a series of public demonstrations and student rallies that reached its peak with the May riots. The demand for reforms could no longer be resisted. Five years have since passed. During the period, almost everything has not had an easy path. Politics, the economy, law. Only the press is enjoying the freedom, despite being constantly hampered by acts of thuggery and by those that decide to play judge. Why is it that almost everybody appear to refuse to remember the demand that reformasi must be incorporated into the whole facets of our lives? What have we accomplished in the last five years?
