THE arms industry and military equipment business became news again following the enactment of the Defense Industry Law at the start of October. One consequence of this legislation is that brokers and agents will fi nd it difficult to play a role in the procurement of primary defense systems products. The new law requires the TNI (military) and the police to acquire domesticallymade weapons and to reduce reliance on imported arms, which used to involve major arms dealers and brokers.
