National: Who’s Behind The Friends Of Ahok Campaign? A GROUP of young people have been actively gathering support and signatures for a movement called the Friends of Ahok. They have become even more prominent after it was chosen as the political vehicle to get incumbent Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok, re-elected in the upcoming regional elections. How extensive is this voluntary movement and who are the people behind this campaign to support Ahok? Outreach: Conservation And Botanical Gardens INDONESIA’S rich biodiversity— especially in endemic fl ora—is slowly vanishing, despite all efforts at conservation and cultivation. To address the problem, the Government will set up botanical gardens in the regions to be managed by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI). Some 30 botanical gardens have been created around the country, prompting the local people to initiate their own conservation activities, as in Renon and Pupuan in Bali and in Central and South Kalimantan.
