Cindy Adams The ‘Satanic Paragraphs’ and Suspected Spying
FOR the fi rst time in decades, Cindy Adams gave an interview to an Indonesia reporter. She talked about the process behind her autobiography of Sukarno, Indonesia’s founding president. What she did not know was that the Indonesian translation of her book quoted Sukarno as denying Mohammad Hatta’s contribution toward proclaiming national independence, something which historians objected to. The Bung Karno Foundation also felt these paragraphs were suspect, calling them "Satanic verses".
